Group Life and Disability Underwriter (m/f/d)

 

 

This role provides you with the opportunity to support ZEL’s Group Life underwriting function. As Group Life and Disability Underwriter, you will support the underwriting strategy and deliver underwriting services for our European markets. In addition, you will support our ambitions to expand our European footprint and to develop innovative products.

 

 

Your role

 

As Group Life and Disability Underwriter your main responsibilities will be as follows:

 

 

  • Deliver exceptional service on the daily activity of underwriting. This includes assessing, pricing, and accepting group life and disability insurance risk for ZEL.
  • Ensure the governance structure for underwriting is respected, including underwriting authorities, underwriting manuals, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with key internal customers, including
  • Zurich’s global underwriting community.
  • Provide active support to Distribution in support of both growth and profitability objectives.
  • Represent the underwriting function with external stakeholders, including brokers and customers.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with key internal customers and ensure they receive expert help and support.
  • If needed, support any other functions or department according to the business need of the company.

 

 

Your skills and experience

 

Your skills and qualifications should ideally include:

  • A university degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in insurance or similar position  
  • Good computer skills, including good knowledge of MS Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage demanding timelines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proactive team player who can work both independently and collaboratively
  • Detail-oriented approach
  • Good command of English; any other European languages is an asset
