This role sits at the heart of that launch, in a team of Settlements Officers shaping how we deliver material costs savings in our commercial and retail business. 

As a Settlements Officer within our Motor Claims team, this is a high-impact role where your negotiations directly influence Zurich's financial outcomes. You will be empowered to make commercially sound decisions, challenge inflated third-party demands, and contribute to delivering millions of dollars in claims savings each year.

Your role will be to investigate liability, assess complex claims scenarios and negotiate strategically with third parties, insurers, recovery agents and legal representatives to achieve commercially sound outcomes while maintaining fairness and compliance

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Managing a portfolio of complex motor claims through to resolution in line with company standards
• Negotiating with third parties and stakeholders to achieve fair and cost-effective outcomes
• Analysing claims data and liability positions to identify savings opportunities
• Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including legal and finance teams
• Ensuring all claims are handled in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirement
• Delivering a high standard of service while balancing customer outcomes and commercial considerations
• Assess liability and evidentiary material to determine appropriate settlement strategies
• Identify opportunities to minimise claim costs through liability negotiations and proactive resolution strategies

You are someone who brings a strong customer-first mindset, with the ability to balance empathy and sound judgement. You enjoy working collaboratively, are open to learning, and take pride in making a genuine difference in the moments that matter.

To be successful, you will have the following:

• Experience managing motor claims, ideally within complex or third-party settlements
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving positive outcomes
• Sound understanding of insurance principles, liability and relevant legislation
• Ability to analyse information and make informed, commercially sound decisions
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
• Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
