Alternative Investments Sr. Internship (Summer 2022)


Zurich Alternative Asset Management, LLC (“ZAAM”) is currently looking for an Alternative Investments M.B.A. Intern to join the team, of approximately 30 investment professionals, based out of New York, NY.  


ZAAM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group.  ZAAM was established in 2006 to manage hedge fund, private equity, and real estate investments solely for Zurich affiliates worldwide.  ZAAM currently manages approximately USD 6 billion of assets.  


ZAAM is seeking for at least one intern to begin in Summer 2022 for approximately three months with a potential to extend the internship during the school year and / or the following summer, subject to business needs. 


The Alternative Investments M.B.A. Intern will contribute to the on-going work of the hedge fund, private equity, real estate, and risk teams.  During his / her time, the Intern will:  


  • Gain exposure to investment due diligence, transaction execution, portfolio construction, risk management, and investment monitoring efforts within one or two asset classes.
  • Perform market research and strategic projects within one or two asset classes as selected by ZAAM senior management to support, challenge, and improve the business
  • Present findings of assigned strategic projects to the ZAAM Investment Committee
  • Exposure to Senior business partners throughout the organization

Basic Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in an advanced degrees program (e.g., MBA, MS, or PhD) or will be enrolled by Fall of 2022
  • Possess undergraduate degree from an accredited educational institution

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Currently pursuing advanced degree in any of Corporate Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant STEM areas
  • Taken coursework in finance, accounting, statistics, and / or investments
  • Taken coursework in programming (e.g., Python, R), data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Power BI), and analytics tools


Preferred Skills:


  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills; experience summarizing and presenting information in a way that provides clarity and interest
  • Possess Quantitative/programming background
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and professional maturity
  • Adhere to confidentiality with handling of sensitive materials
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently in support of project and team goals
  • Possess problem solving skills, including identification of issues, and offering tangible solutions
  • Show familiarity with private equity, hedge fund, and real estate concepts
