As a Data Platform Engineer, you’ll sit within our Technology Data team, helping unlock the value of data across the organisation. You’ll play a key role in evolving our Snowflake and dbt platform, focusing on building a reliable, scalable, and well-governed data environment that supports smarter decision making across the business.
This is your opportunity to shape how data is delivered at scale. You’ll improve automation, strengthen platform reliability, and build the foundations that enable teams to confidently deploy, monitor, and trust their data products. Your work will directly support Zurich’s digital transformation and our ambition to become a leading data-driven insurer.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Driving DataOps practices to improve automation, reducing manual effort and enabling faster, safer releases
- Uplifting CI/CD maturity for dbt workflows, including implementing automated quality checks and deployment controls
- Enhancing platform observability through monitoring, metrics, alerting, and proactive issue prevention
- Embedding governance and security practices, including access design and data protection controls
- Building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to ensure consistency and scalability across the platform
- Partnering with business and technology stakeholders to continuously improve data platform performance and reliability

You’re someone who enjoys building strong foundations and making things better over time. You take ownership, think ahead, and work collaboratively to create solutions that are reliable, scalable, and easy for others to use.
In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- Strong hands-on experience working with Snowflake in a production environment, including performance, security, and cost optimisation
- Proven experience with dbt Core and dbt Cloud, including implementing CI/CD for data pipelines
- Deep capability in DevOps or DataOps practices with a focus on automation, observability, and deployment reliability
- Experience using Terraform to manage infrastructure-as-code
- Solid AWS knowledge, including IAM, data integrations, and cloud-native services
- Strong SQL and Python skills to build tooling, automate workflows, and support platform capabilities
