Let’s create a brighter future together, let’s make a difference
It’s important to know, what you do matters. At Zurich, we don’t just cover, we care.
As a Junior Data Analyst in Zurich’s Data Analytics Chapter, you’ll turn data into decisions that matter. Working alongside experienced analysts and business stakeholders, you’ll explore, prepare and interpret data, and help translate insights into intuitive visuals and clear stories that guide action. You’ll contribute to analytics delivered through agile squads, embedding insights where they make the most impact.
This is a hands‑on growth role. You’ll develop your toolkit across SQL, Python and Power BI, learn modern practices like version control and reproducible analytics, and be supported by mentors who champion transparency, learning and collaboration—all in service of our digital north star: becoming Australia’s Leading Digital Insurer.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Preparing, validating and analysing datasets to uncover trends, risks and opportunities that inform business decisions.
- Building and maintaining dashboards and data products (primarily in Power BI, with SQL/Python as needed) that bring insights to life.
- Assisting with the development and testing of statistical and predictive models under senior guidance.
- Applying strong documentation and version control practices to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
- Collaborating in agile squads with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to embed analytics into decision‑making.
- Communicating findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences and sharing learnings with the chapter.
Important to your success – let’s grow together
You’re naturally curious and customer‑obsessed, with a foundation in SQL/Power BI and the drive to expand into Python and modern analytics practices. You thrive in collaborative, agile environments and are motivated by the opportunity to learn fast and make a measurable impact on our digital transformation.
In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- Exposure to data analytics through internships, uni projects or entry‑level roles, with a strong interest in financial services or insurance.
- Practical experience with SQL and Power BI (including DAX and basic data modelling); familiarity with Python and/or Alteryx is a plus.
- Ability to translate analysis into clear, actionable insights and visualisations for varied stakeholders.
- Good grasp of data quality, governance and documentation; comfort using version control to support reproducible work.
- Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills; comfortable working in agile squads and seeking feedback to grow.
- Bonus: exposure to Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) and large data warehouses/offline files (CSV, XLSX)
