As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing a modern technology stack and shaping the digital future of Australia’s Leading Digital Insurance. You’ll be central to building the future of our frontend, microservices, and cloud foundations, enabling scalability across the organisation. Your leadership will drive technical delivery, architectural decisions, and help foster a high-performing engineering capability within your squad.
This role champions modern, scalable technology across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure, while mentoring engineers and promoting modern engineering and DevSecOps practices. Collaboration with other technical leaders and architecture teams will ensure strong alignment, innovation, and ongoing improvement.
This role requires strong technical leadership to drive adoption of a modern, scalable technology stack, ensuring secure, maintainable, and high-performing systems.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Modern Frontend Expertise: Champion modern architectures using frameworks like NextJS and ReactJS (preferred), robust state management (e.g., Redux, Context API), and shared design systems.
- Backend & Cloud-Native Architecture: Lead design and implementation of decoupled BFFs and cloud-native solutions, demonstrating strong backend API, microservices, and event-driven architecture experience.
- DevOps & Platform Reliability: Oversee platform reliability, mature DevOps practices, and robust CI/CD pipelines and automation for operational readiness.
- Component-Driven Development: Promote component-driven development and reusability across the experience layer for scalable, maintainable front-end architectures.
Important to your success – let’s grow together
In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- Over 10 years of technology experience, including designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native full stack platforms, with proven team or technical leadership.
- Deep expertise in frontend development (ReactJS strongly preferred) with strong state management, plus backend API experience including microservices, BFFs, and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD automation, and production-grade platform delivery.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a strategic mindset aligning technology and business outcomes.
- Prior experience in the Insurance or Financial Services industry is highly regarded.
