As Lead Full-Stack Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in rebuilding a mission-critical insurance platform from the inside out. This is not a standard full-stack role; you’ll be leading the modernisation of legacy systems, applying deep system thinking and engineering mastery across modern frontends, distributed systems, and cloud environments.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Decomposing monolithic legacy engines into autonomous, cloud-native services with self-healing capabilities.
• Rebuilding business rules, workflows, and UI behaviour using modern frameworks.
• Creating, validating, and refining AI-generated artefacts—specs, code, tests, workflows—to ensure correctness, safety, and performance.
• Reverse-engineering complex legacy logic and designing elegant, observable replacements with strong boundaries.
• Owning end-to-end behaviour across data, APIs, domain logic, integration patterns, and UI flows.
• Introducing engineering patterns that elevate the entire modernisation programme and embedding secure-by-design principles throughout your components.

We’re seeking a technical leader who thrives on complexity, brings clarity to ambiguity, and is recognised as the go-to engineer for challenging problems. You’re passionate about transforming legacy systems into crisp, maintainable solutions and have a keen eye for system design and performance.

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• Deep expertise in Java, plus solid experience in an additional language or ecosystem (e.g., .NET), with system-level engineering skills (concurrency, memory, performance tuning, distributed systems).
• Experience designing Spring Boot microservices for resilience, traceability, and scale.
• Strong proficiency in React/TypeScript, with robust state management fundamentals.
• Proven ability in clean, versionable, contract-driven API design.
• Thorough understanding of testing complex systems, including integration, property-based, contract, and asynchronous flows.
• Ability to evaluate and correct AI-generated code safely and efficiently, and to reason across a full stack spanning 20 years of technology evolution.
