As an Insurance Lawyer, you’ll support our life insurance business by providing trusted legal, regulatory, and governance advice that helps protect our customers and strengthens our organisation. You’ll sit within a collaborative in house legal team that partners closely with the business as we modernise, simplify, and evolve how we operate.

Your work will help shape compliant, customer centred solutions, guide decision making across the organisation, and ensure we continue to deliver high quality outcomes as we move toward a more digitally enabled future.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Providing clear, commercial legal advice that supports business decisions and strategic initiatives.
• Identifying legal, governance, and regulatory risks and guiding the business on how to navigate them.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial and insurance related agreements.
• Supporting teams with product development, disclosure requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Contributing to process improvements within the Legal team to help us work smarter and more efficiently.
• Keeping the business updated on relevant legal and regulatory developments

You’ll bring a thoughtful, solutions focused mindset and enjoy working with stakeholders in a calm, collaborative, and practical way. You’re curious, engaged, and motivated by the opportunity to influence outcomes that genuinely matter.

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• Recognised Australian legal qualifications and eligible to practice law in New South Wales.
• 5+ years PQE providing legal advice across life insurance law, superannuation, or financial services.
• Experience working with regulatory obligations and engaging with regulators or trustees.
• Ability to receive instructions, analytically assess issues and communicate advice clearly and in a non-legalistic way.
• Strong written communications skills and ability to produce a variety of documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought, and orderliness of presentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain trustful, working relationships at all levels of the organisation; able to demonstrate professional and tactful customer relationship skills.
