As Zurich continues its transformation journey toward becoming Australia’s Leading Digital Insurer, we’re modernising the core technology and platforms that underpin our Life Insurance business. Central to this journey is Life3, our COBOL-based mainframe policy administration system—an essential platform that supports policy servicing, billing, payments, renewals, product changes, regulatory compliance, and more.

In this specialist Senior Business Analyst role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping and delivering enhancements to Life3 and its integrated ecosystem. Partnering closely with Product Owners, Developers, Actuarial, Architecture and Operations teams, you will help drive technology uplift, improve system capability, and ensure our core platform continues to evolve in line with Zurich’s strategic and digital ambitions.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Leading end‑to‑end requirements analysis for Life3 enhancements, regulatory changes, product updates and operational improvements.
• Creating detailed user stories, functional specifications, system rules, process documentation, data mapping and acceptance criteria.
• Analysing Life3 mainframe components including screens, batch behaviour, data structures and COBOL logic to understand current-state behaviour and assess change impacts.
• Conducting impact assessments across dependent systems (e.g., ZABI, SOLAR, SmartComms, Salesforce, MuleSoft, SAP).
• Facilitating workshops, walkthroughs and solution discussions with technical, business, actuarial, and operations stakeholders.
• Supporting testers with scenario clarification, UAT readiness, and post‑release validation to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

You’re a highly capable BA with strong technical depth and an appetite for complex system problem‑solving—ready to contribute to a modernisation journey while preserving and strengthening a critical legacy platform.

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• 5+ years’ experience as a technical Business Analyst within insurance or financial services, ideally within policy administration systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with mainframe / COBOL systems, with the ability to interpret COBOL programs, copybooks and JCL—specifically within a Life3 environment.
• Solid understanding of life insurance domain processes such as product configuration, policy servicing, billing, pricing, commission and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience producing detailed functional specifications, user stories and solution documentation in an Agile environment.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical behaviours into clear, concise explanations for non‑technical audiences.
• Strong stakeholder management capability and experience working across cross‑functional delivery teams.
