As a Senior Financial Accountant within our General Insurance business, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of our financial reporting. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role supports confident decision-making across the business and ensures we meet our statutory and regulatory obligations.
You’ll work closely with finance and non-finance stakeholders, contributing to a strong control environment, while helping drive continuous improvement as we modernise and strengthen how we operate. Your work will directly support successful audits, clear financial insight, and a culture of accountability and trust.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Supporting the accurate and timely delivery of month-end close activities across designated entities.
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, and supporting working papers.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Partnering with stakeholders across finance, tax, actuarial, and the wider business to resolve issues and deliver outcomes.
- Supporting statutory, regulatory, and group reporting, including audit requests.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, controls, and data quality

You’re a thoughtful and proactive accountant who takes ownership of outcomes and values accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You’re comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders and bring a calm, solutions-focused approach to your work.
In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- Experience in financial accounting within insurance, general insurance advantageous.
- Exposure to statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, including IFRS17 and APRA reporting.
- Strong understanding of month-end close processes, reconciliations, and journals.
- Advanced Excel capability with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, with SAP general ledger experience preferred.
- Sound analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on controls and governance
