We're looking for a Senior Marine Underwriter to join our NSW/ACT General Insurance team, where you'll play a key role in growing a profitable Marine portfolio while delivering trusted expertise to brokers and customers. This is an opportunity to work with complex cargo and transit risks, influence portfolio performance, and help shape underwriting outcomes in a collaborative, high-performing environment.
You'll combine strong technical underwriting capability with commercial thinking to build quality broker relationships, support colleagues with your expertise, and contribute to Zurich's ongoing digital and data-led transformation. Working alongside national underwriting, Claims and Risk Engineering teams, you'll help deliver exceptional customer outcomes while driving sustainable growth across the NSW and ACT market.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Underwrite new and renewal Marine risks to achieve profitable growth across the NSW and ACT portfolio
- Build and strengthen broker relationships to generate quality new business opportunities
- Apply underwriting appetite, pricing standards and governance requirements consistently across decisions
- Structure appropriate risk solutions for complex cargo and transit exposures
- Provide technical guidance and referral support to underwriters and distribution colleagues
- Leverage underwriting data, systems and approved AI-enabled tools to enhance decision-making and service delivery

You'll be a commercially minded underwriting professional who enjoys balancing technical expertise with strong relationship management. In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- Extensive commercial insurance underwriting experience with strong Marine cargo and transit expertise
- Proven experience managing portfolios to profitability, retention and growth objectives
- Strong broker-facing negotiation and business development capability within an intermediated market
- Experience providing technical coaching, mentoring or referral support to underwriting colleagues
- Deep knowledge of marine coverages, transit exposures, policy wordings and risk assessment principles
- Demonstrated ability to use underwriting systems, pricing tools and portfolio data to inform decisions
