As the Senior Risk Engineer – Motor, you will provide expert risk engineering and risk management advice to underwriting and claims teams, customers, and Zurich Resilience Solutions clients across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Principal Risk Engineer, the role focuses on delivering consistent, high quality risk engineering services, conducting risk assessments across diverse industries, and producing technical assessments aligned with international standards.

 

The Senior Risk Engineer plays a key role in customer engagement, account engineering, business development, and achievement of financial targets, while also contributing to mentoring other risk engineers, participating in global ZRS initiatives, and supporting the growth of Zurich Resilience Solutions’ fee income.

 

 

Important to your success – let’s grow together

 

  • Demonstrated senior level industry experience, with strong exposure to risk management, loss evaluation, hazard analysis, occupational health and safety, or related insurance disciplines.
  • Proven experience in risk engineering or risk management roles, such as Risk Engineering, Risk Consulting, or Loss Control.
  • Direct industry experience in the motor sector is essential, with a solid understanding of motor risk exposures and controls.
  • Formal training in risk assessment and hazard analysis specific to the Motor Line of Business.
  • Strong working knowledge of Risk Engineering principles within an insurance environment, including assessment methodologies and service standards.
  • Highly developed consultative questioning and influencing skills, enabling credibility as a subject matter expert, effective solution design, and support of bid and business development opportunities.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, complemented by strong financial and analytical capability.
  • Relevant Risk Engineering qualification (or equivalent) at a senior level, with eligibility for professional membership (e.g. Risk Management Institute of Australasia or equivalent).
