Let’s create a brighter future together, let’s make a difference
It’s important to know, what you do matters. At Zurich, we don’t just cover, we care.
We’re looking for a Multiline Underwriter to join our Edupac team and help establish one of Australia’s largest specialist education insurance portfolios.
Supporting schools and educational institutions across Australia, you’ll work across Property, Liability, Motor, Financial Lines and Accident and Health. You’ll work closely with Aon and a broad range of internal stakeholders to deliver sound underwriting outcomes, responsive service and a seamless experience for our broker partner and customers.
This is a unique opportunity to broaden your underwriting capability across several lines of business. Working within established underwriting frameworks and delegated authority, you’ll apply underwriting judgement, coordinate referrals and help ensure information and policy activity are managed accurately and efficiently.
As part of a newly established team, you’ll also contribute to the processes and ways of working that will support the portfolio into the future. The role would suit an Assistant Underwriter or developing Underwriter who is ready to take the next step, as well as an experienced Underwriter interested in building broader multi line capability.
You’ll remain market facing and build strong relationships with Aon’s client teams, while collaborating closely with Zurich’s underwriting, operations, claims and distribution teams. This is an opportunity to combine underwriting, relationship management and operational excellence within a significant new portfolio.
What does this look like in practice:
- Assess and underwrite new business, renewals and policy changes within agreed frameworks and delegated authority.
- Apply underwriting criteria consistently, identifying matters that require referral or escalation to senior underwriting specialists.
- Work across Property, Liability, Motor, Financial Lines and Accident and Health, building broader multi line underwriting capability.
- Build a strong working relationship with Aon and act as a trusted day to day contact for underwriting and policy administration matters.
- Deliver timely and accurate responses to broker enquiries, ensuring service commitments are consistently achieved.
- Review risk and policy information carefully, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate and processed in line with agreed requirements.
- Manage endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements and other policy adjustments efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate with underwriting specialists, operations, claims and distribution teams to deliver positive customer outcomes.
- Contribute to the establishment and continuous improvement of underwriting frameworks, processes, documentation and service delivery across the Edupac portfolio.
- Support colleagues across the portfolio through knowledge sharing, collaboration and cross training across different lines of business.
Important to your success – let’s grow together
You’ll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership and brings a customer focused approach to everything you do. You build trusted relationships, communicate with confidence and value accuracy, responsiveness and continuous improvement.
You’ll be comfortable working within structured underwriting frameworks, while using sound judgement to recognise when a matter requires referral or escalation. You’ll also have the curiosity and flexibility to develop your knowledge across several lines of business.
In order to be successful, you will have the following:
- Exposure to Property, Liability, Motor or broader General Insurance underwriting. We are also open to experienced Assistant Underwriters who are ready to take the next step in their career.
- An understanding of underwriting principles and risk assessment, with the ability to apply agreed frameworks and make sound decisions within delegated authority.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established processes while managing multiple priorities.
- The confidence to identify matters requiring further review and engage the appropriate underwriting specialist.
- Experience building effective relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
- A collaborative approach and an interest in developing capability across multiple lines of business.
- Resilience, empathy and professionalism when working with sensitive customer, claims and risk information.
- Knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to the General Insurance industry.
