Zurich is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Team Manager with specialized expertise in the New York jurisdiction.

 

This opportunity offers flexibility with either a hybrid schedule for those located near our Parsippany or Boston office or a fully virtual arrangement for candidates not near a Zurich office. Enjoy the benefits of remote work while maintaining the option to collaborate in-person as needed, ensuring a balanced and supportive work environment.

 

With measured oversight, you will lead and direct a Worker Compensation team of technical Claims Professionals in managing low to high exposure claims. Your role involves coordinating team activities, ensuring performance, fostering development, and offering coaching to maximize contributions and drive employee growth and operational enhancements.

 

As a Workers’ Compensation Claims Team Manager at Zurich, you will drive superior claims results across varying levels of complexity in workers’ compensation by providing expert direction, technical guidance, and monitoring key performance metrics. You will foster customer satisfaction by building strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and brokers, proactively addressing quality and service issues, and ensuring the achievement of best practices through regular file reviews and trend analysis.

 

In this role, you will manage corporate expenses, ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal requirements, and provide valuable claims insights to support business development and stewardship initiatives. You will motivate and lead a high-performance team through effective recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies, while overseeing performance management and facilitating ongoing employee development. Clear and transparent communication will be central to your leadership, as you champion a workplace culture aligned with Zurich’s mission, vision, and values. Additionally, you will safeguard Zurich’s reputation by maintaining confidentiality, pursue continuous professional growth, and actively contribute to team and organizational projects as needed.

 

 Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims area
    OR
  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims area
    AND
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience collaborating across work groups
  • Knowledge of insurance legal statutes and procedures
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
  • Travel 0-20%

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Extensive experience in the Workers Compensation line of business
  • Jurisdiction expertise in New York
  • Direct people management experience
  • Self-Insured License
  • WCCA, WCCP Designations
  • Knowledge and skill of claims handling
  • Negotiation experience
  • Experience in line of business
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical skills

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $98,300.00 - $161,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
