Paralegal, General Liability (Philadelphia, PA)
Zurich North America’s Staff Legal Office is currently hiring a Paralegal, General Liability to join their team! Under the supervision of an attorney, the successful candidate’s work will be in support of moderate to complex liability litigation cases (e.g. case work, research, discovery responses, subpoenas, etc.).

This is a hybrid work position, however, the candidate selected for this opportunity should be able to report into one of the following North American office locations: Philadelphia, PA
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Providing legal support up to three attorneys
- Drafting legal pleadings, correspondence, and other documents as directed
- Providing legal support such as legal and documentary research
- Monitoring and adhering to case schedules and filing deadlines
- Conducting interviews, summarizing depositions, reviewing discovery responses and medical records
- Preparing discovery requests and responses
- Subpoenaing, collecting and organizing records from non-parties
- Scheduling Surveillance, Compulsory Medical Exams, and Site Inspections
- Assisting in trial preparation
- Responding to inquiries from and interacts with customers, clients, counsel, and witnesses
- Keeping track of billable hours.
- Organizing and maintaining case files and documentation, electronically
- Contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed
- Collaborating with attorneys, staff, claims professionals and leadership to accomplish successful business and litigation outcomes.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area
OR
- Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Legal Support area
AND
- Experience conducting electronic database research
- Experience drafting legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
- Experience in legal support
- Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate
- Defense experience
- Insurance industry experience
- Ability to effectively conduct electronic database research, including Lexus Nexis
- Comfortable working in a paperless work environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively draft legal documents, correspondence, and/or pleadings
- Strong Microsoft Office and technical skills
- Familiarity with litigation management software systems
- Trial experience, including preparing trial exhibits and witnesses
- Experiencing filing with the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Courts E-filing system.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania and New Jersey Rules of Civil Procedure and local Rules
- Experience navigating Clerk, Court and Judicial websites
- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to effectively collaborate throughout the organization.
- Experience with obtaining, tracking, and organizing non-party records
- Experience working with records retrieval services
- CORE Registered Paralegal (CRP)
- PACE Registered Paralegal (PRP)
- Certified Paralegal (CP)
- Certified Legal Assistant (CLA)
- Professional Paralegal (PP)
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed hourly rate range for this position is $28.22 - $46.25, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 5%.
