Regional Executive, West Region

Zurich North America is seeking a strategic and dynamic Regional Executive to lead the West Region as part of the Distribution & Regional Management team. This critical leadership role is responsible for driving regional growth, profitability, and operational excellence while supporting Zurich’s broader business objectives.

The Regional Executive will directly manage a team of Territory Leaders focused on expanding Zurich’s distribution footprint, developing new partnerships, and strengthening existing broker relationships across all lines of business. In addition to direct leadership responsibilities, this role also collaborates across underwriting, claims, risk engineering, and other support functions within the region.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and results-driven leader with a proven ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations. They will work closely with senior executives and regional leadership to develop and execute business strategies, including sales planning, cross-selling initiatives, and customer engagement efforts. A strong communicator and relationship builder, the Regional Executive will represent Zurich externally with brokers, clients, and industry partners, serving as a key ambassador for the brand. This role requires a passion for building high-performing teams, recruiting and retaining top talent, and fostering a culture of excellence.

The position reports to the Head of Regional Distribution, with preferred locations in San Francisco or Los Angeles. Regular business travel is expected.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Zurich North America (ZNA) Business Units to support the execution of territory-specific and distributor-focused strategies that align with overall business objectives.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive distribution strategies for the assigned territory, identifying key distributor relationships, both existing and emerging, to drive growth and engagement.
  • Strengthen accountability and deepen relationships with Strategic and Developmental distributors to enhance performance and collaboration.
  • Expand ZNA’s distribution network by increasing the number of active distributor partnerships and cultivating underdeveloped relationships.
  • Coordinate market visibility efforts across all business units and product lines to ensure consistent brand presence and messaging.
  • Represent Zurich as a unified team in the marketplace, reinforcing our value proposition and delivering a cohesive customer experience.
  • Champion sales execution and pipeline management across the organization to drive business development and revenue growth.
  • Promote cross-selling initiatives to increase the average number of lines written per customer and maximize account penetration.
  • Enhance institutional relationships with both customers and distributors to foster long-term loyalty and strategic alignment.
  • Lead the planning and execution of regional and local events across all business units, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Manage regional travel, event budgets, and sponsorship expenditures responsibly and within approved limits.
  • Provide matrixed leadership across regional business units, contributing to goal setting, performance appraisals, and mentoring of BU and SBU leaders.
  • Identify and support high-potential talent, facilitating career development and mobility across business units and lines of business.
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of products and services in accordance with Zurich’s policies and brand promise.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Business Development and Distribution area  
    AND
  • 5 or more years of experience in leadership roles including change management
  • Commercial Insurance Industry experience

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Extensive insurance and business experience across underwriting, broking, and relationship management, with deep knowledge of market dynamics and emerging industry trends.
  • Strong, established broker relationships throughout the West Region, with a proven ability to leverage those connections for strategic growth.
  • Demonstrated success in building trusted relationships and operating effectively with senior internal stakeholders, external partners, and key customers.
  • Robust analytical capabilities to support performance analysis, strategic planning, and insightful reporting.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing impactful business strategies that drive results.
  • Experience navigating and thriving within a complex, matrixed organizational structure.
  • Exceptional communication, consulting, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to align diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience, with a focus on aligning talent to business opportunities and fostering professional development.
  • Highly skilled in relationship-building, active listening, and collaborative negotiation to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Executive presence and confidence in engaging with C-suite leaders and high-level decision-makers.
  • Visionary leadership with the ability to inspire innovation, guide strategic direction, and champion organizational transformation.

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. 


The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $197,800 -$324,000, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 35%.
