AVP Director of Compliance Center of Excellence
Zurich North America is hiring a AVP Director of Compliance Center of Excellence and this person will report to the Chief Compliance Officer for Zurich North America. This person will work out of Schaumburg, IL North America HQ.
The responsibilities of the Compliance Center of Excellence are based on the Compliance Risk Universe (CRU). The CRU is comprised of subjects that are within the scope of Group Compliance functions at Zurich. Compliance works with the business to mitigate the Compliance risk that may manifest itself in legal or regulatory penalties and related remediation costs, as well as the risk of reputation damage caused by adverse publicity (e.g., allegations of misconduct). Examples of CRU topics include but are not limited to Financial Crime (including Trade/Economic Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering, and Anti-Bribery / Anti-Corruption), Data Protection and Privacy, Antitrust, Customer Facing Conduct, and Conflict of Interest.
The Center of Excellence is the custodian of the Group Compliance Policies and is responsible for embedding them locally as well as providing guidance and support with respect to them. Any local specific compliance risks not specifically set forth in the CRU (i.e. U.S. state-based insurance regulation) will be captured through the local application of the risk assessment framework and further respective activities (assurance work, etc.) handled outside of the Compliance Center of Excellence.
Responsibilities of role:
- Directly manages and develops staff of compliance professionals.
- Builds strong relationships with key business partners and global colleagues.
- Provides strategic input to Compliance Leadership through participation in strategic discussions, Annual Compliance Risk Assessment and the development of the Annual Compliance Operating Plan.
- Provides compliance advice, both proactive and remediation.
- Ensures the completion of projects and other work effort related to remediation of compliance breaches, findings from regulatory examinations and internal reviews.
- Prepares Issue/Activity Reporting to regional management and to the Group Compliance Central Team.
- Ensures all relevant state and federal filings, sanctions screenings and regulatory inquiries are executed and/or addressed timely.
- Provides advice and oversight of Internal Controle Integrated Framework (ICIF) activities ensuring control activities are embedded in first line of defense business processes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Compliance area
OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 12 or more years of experience in the Compliance area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Risk, and Internal Control experience including (risk) assessment and (control) implementation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Automation and data analytics skills
- Effective conflict resolution, presentation, and project management skills
- Prior compliance, insurance, audit, legal and/or management experience
- People management experience
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed Salary range for this position is $126,800.00 - $207,600.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
