Actuarial Analyst, Pricing Landscape


Zurich North America is currently looking for an Actuarial Analyst for our Pricing Landscape team based out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. While Schaumburg is strongly preferred we are open to this role being based in our New York City or Overland Park, Kansas offices.


This multi-year Actuarial project is more technical than your average project; if you find that you are stronger technically and more interested than your actuarial peers in SQL, SAS, R, or Python then this is the role for you.


The Actuarial Analyst supports Pricing Landscape as the team oversees the pricing tools landscape with the goal to simplify, enhance, integrate, and strategically reduce the numbers of tools, leveraging the PolicyCenter roadmap where possible.  The objective is to create tools that are intuitive to underwriters and enable solid underwriting and pricing decisions.  The Pricing Landscape function reports to Zurich’s Chief Pricing Actuary.


The Actuarial Analyst, Pricing Landscape responsibilities include:


  • Support the maintenance and enhancements of ZLAPS (Zurich Large Account Pricing System).  This includes supporting the transition of this tool to a modernized platform
  • Support the maintenance of current products on PolicyCenter as needed, including table maintenance, reporting, and tool enhancements
  • Support the transition of future products to PolicyCenter, including gathering rating and pricing artifacts (e.g. rating and pricing rules and algorithms, countrywide and state exceptions, etc.)
  • Working with IT colleagues, LOB Pricing actuaries and transactional pricing actuaries on maintenance, enhancement, and re-platforming projects. 


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences
  • Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2 or more years actuarial experience
  • Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 3 or more years of actuarial experience.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Commercial Property & Casualty Actuarial Pricing experience
  • Experience contributing to and delivering actuarial projects
  • Strong programming interest, experience, and aptitude
  • Exposure to Guidewire PolicyCenter.
