Application Delivery Lead

Zurich is currently looking for an Application Delivery Lead to work out of our Schaumburg, Illinois office delivering a portfolio of Guidewire based insurance applications as part of the Core Platform Modernization team within Information Technology Services.

 

As the Application Delivery Lead, you will: 

  • Understand customers’ processes and products and how they fit within the goals of the function or business unit

  • Oversee the delivery of multiple, large scale IT projects in parallel

  • Engage with the solution architect in the reviews and validation of the detailed technical design for business applications provided by the supplier to ensure alignment with business requirements; validate suppliers estimates

  • Estimate Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality

  • Perform quality review checks on project deliverables

  • Support, review and validate the documentation of functional specifications

  • Make recommendations for application performance improvements

  • Make recommendations for application de-commissioning

  • Act as liaison between Business and IT, as assigned

  • Support the Portfolio Manager in building the Business Case, including cost / benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope, and development of a high-level plan

  • Support the implementation activities, troubleshooting system environmental issues providing training as required

  • Perform impact analysis of application changes across various components holding an end-to-end view of the system

  • Specify / recommend Integration and Parallel testing criteria

  • Take responsibility for the conceptual design of business applications

  • Mentor lower-level colleagues

  • Identify complex root cause of an issue within an application in support of application incidents 

 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the IT area
    OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the IT area
    OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the IT area
    AND

  • 4 or more years maintaining IT hardware and software

  • Experience with IT architecture and infrastructure

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Application Maintenance experience

  • Project Development and Transformation experience

  • IT Vendor / Services Management experience

  • Experience in Using Agile Tools, methodologies, and practices in delivering large transformation program / project

  • Functional and or technical knowledge of Commercial insurance industry business processes esp., Underwriting process

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Agile Scrum Certification

  • Experience with various delivery approaches (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum)

  • Expert at delivering large, complex IT programs

  • Advanced negotiation skills

  • Strong consultative experience preferred

  • Experience with collaborating across many teams

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
