Business Practices & Project Consultant


Zurich is currently searching for a Business Practices & Project Consultant with business operations and general IT experience to join the Information Technology Infrastructure & Operations team at our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.


As a Business Practices & Project Consultant at Zurich North America, you will support strategic and operations priorities, collaborate with other technical and business resources and evaluate and address IT Operations-related priorities as necessary.  You will be accountable for managing and tracking organizational financial targets, and working closely with project managers and service leaders to understand and react to changes in the project portfolio.


The Business Practices & Project Consultant will utilize their existing knowledge of IT infrastructure and related technologies to help implement Zurich’s IT vision through collaborating with the business, I&O service leaders, global operations teams and strategic vendors.


You will also be responsible for helping to execute the overall collaboration and support strategy which includes interfacing with architects, technology SMEs, and strategic vendors to develop and manage solutions – while ensuring compliance with internal controls.


Additional responsibilities will include:


  • Coordinate planning, facilitate meetings and monitor project decisions and outcomes

  • Conduct analyses, interview business partners, and synthesize results to provide recommendations and solutions

  • Collaborate with project managers to prepare materials and respond to questions on content, ensuring executive stakeholders are presented with accurate information

  • Support the project or program manager in the reporting and tracking of project/program status via standardized reporting processes

  • Assess and evaluate project/program deliverables and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement

  • Support colleagues in providing advice to address functional challenges from internal business partners and deliver solutions

  • Build strong relationships across the business and act as a liaison with project teams and business partners

  • Assist with change management planning and execution to support implementations

  • Provide IT Infrastructure & Operations input on cost/benefit analysis, risk assessment, and scope definition of proposed projects

  • Lead individual(s) or sub project tasks affecting single or multiple business and IT departments

  • Evaluate project implications through consultation with the business, regulatory, information technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams

  • Assist in coordination and documentation of audit activities and remediation

  • Invoicing reconciliations, cloud reporting consumption, network end of life and refreshes, budgets, mobile device expenditures, growth credits, licenses, general reporting, and other ad hoc tasks


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Operations area

  • Project management experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Consulting experience

  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships

  • Experience in an analytical role on complex enterprise projects

  • Knowledge of financial services industry

  • Understanding of Cloud platforms preferred

  • Experience in managing and tracking project financials

  • Knowledge of insurance business processes and processing

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite of services (SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message and experience creating executive level presentations
