*DB2 Database Engineer
Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a DB2 Database Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our DB2 on Linux servers, understand software development methodologies and work with development, platform, security, and infrastructure teams to support the databases at Zurich. Specific duties include: assist with creation and maintenance of end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management of database services; design and implement database structures that meet the business requirements while ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance; develop custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks; perform database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime; provide consultation to business personnel, the development team and infrastructure team with the design and support of host systems with client and internal applications by participating in project meetings; design DB2 solutions including architecture, deployment processes, providing end-to-end database support for cloud services through monitoring, incident response, and incident resolution for the Public Cloud Platform environment, provide support and expertise to troubleshoot issues on the public cloud database platforms (Azure) for hosted workloads, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Azure DevOps and Ansible to automate DB2 build and configuration in cloud environments, build and configuration standards; troubleshoot and provide solution connection of various types and native clients; lead and mentor junior database administrators, engineers and developers; and stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in database management and security. Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. with required travel to Schaumburg HQ once a year.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Cloud Engineer, System Lead (DBA), Senior system Analyst (DBA), Database Administrator, DB2 Administrator or similar position overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases. Must have 5 years of experience with each of the following: deploying, monitoring, and managing infrastructure of DB2 servers; designing and implementing database structures to meet business requirements while ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance; developing custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks; working with Linux operating systems; working with SQL, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, and Python for automation; performing database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime; providing consultation of the design and support of host systems; designing DB2 solutions including architecture, deployment processes; providing end-to-end database support for cloud services through monitoring, incident response, and incident resolution for the Public Cloud Platform environment; providing support and expertise to troubleshoot issues on the public cloud database platforms including Azure for hosted workloads, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Azure DevOps and Ansible to automate DB2 build and configuration in cloud environments, build and configuration standards; troubleshooting and solutioning connections of jdbc, odbc and native clients; working with high availability, disaster recovery and storage concepts; and working with database security including implementation, support and evaluating database security in DB2. Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. with required travel to Schaumburg HQ once a year.

The proposed salary range for this position is $157,200.
