Data Vendor Relationship Consultant


Zurich North America is looking for a Data Vendor Relationship Consultant to join our Data Analytic Solutions Team based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.


Zurich’s Data Analytic Solutions Team is responsible for supporting stakeholders that require data solutions for their business needs. The Data Analytic Solutions Team also supports the overall data strategy while complying with Zurich’s Data Commitment. The data procured by the team is leveraged to enrich Zurich’s internal data and help users conduct analysis, produce actionable insights, and drive key business decisions.


The Data Vendor Relationship Consultant plays a critical role and is responsible for the following:


  • Partner with stakeholders on projects to understand and translate their business needs
  • Identify, analyze, profile, and deliver data sets that meet stakeholder requirements
  • Analyze external data dictionaries for relevant use cases
  • Document and log reviews of external data sources in Zurich systems
  • Research and track the availability and location of internal and external data sets
  • Evaluate, understand, and effectively communicate usage rights and pricing in accordance with contract language
  • Partner with Procurement, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, and Information Security for external data contracts
  • Work with Finance business partners to ensure proper cost center amortization and allocation of external data costs
  • Establish relationships with external data vendors and organize vendor demos for internal stakeholders
  • Establish working relationships with key technical leads throughout the organization.


Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Data Management area
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Data Management area
  • Experienced in data interrogation, data profiling or data modeling


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of internal data sets and ability to research external data sets
  • Ability to multi-task with project management like capabilities
  • Experience working with and negotiating with 3rd party vendors
  • Ability to build relationships within as well as outside of the Zurich organization
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively as part of a team
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Insurance industry experience
