Guidewire Solutions Architect


Zurich is currently seeking a Guidewire Solutions Architect to join its Core Platform Modernization - Underwriting Transformation team within Information Technologies Services out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL.


The Solutions Architect will be tasked with assisting with the implementation of a Policy Administration System using Guidewire PolicyCenter software and will help guide the organization on the solutioning, coding, and development of Guidewire technologies into the overall Zurich landscape.  This individual contributor will create and maintain constructive and supportive relationships with Business Partners (BP), ensure that all projects are initiated within IT's delivery framework and satisfy BP's needs while aligning to both the IT and BP strategy.


The Solutions Architect will support the application architecture utilized by in-house developed applications, vendor applications and databases and ensure development efforts are carried out using a consistent and quality driven approach and will play an important role in the development and integration of new capabilities into existing systems by continuing to develop target architecture that aligns with existing and new capabilities, business goals and objectives.


Additionally, the Solutions Architect will be responsible for assisting in the creation of integrated solutions across multiple disciplines within a complex IT technical framework, and preparing architecture statements that address the application design, process changes and project details necessary for a successful implementation. When required, the solution architect will also lead and guide a team of developers in implementing the solution and perform code/design reviews to ensure the implemented code adheres to the solution architecture. The solution architect will also be responsible for reviewing and approving any data model changes required to implement the solution.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area

  • Guidewire Experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of experience of Guidewire PolicyCenter experience in the area of GOSU, PCF, Product Model, Entity/Data Model, Rating & Rating Management, Forms Inference, Validation Rules, UW Issues, Workflows, Administration

  • Guidewire Certification (especially PolicyCenter) preferred

  • Intermediate skills associated with software design, modification, implementation, and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts

  • Strong communication skills

  • Knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance operations and processing systems
