Head of Construction Training and Onboarding (AVP or VP level)

Zurich North America is hiring a Head of Construction Training and Onboarding (AVP or VP level), to join our Specialties Construction team. We are open to hiring at any Zurich office location or remotely with the understanding that there will be approximately 25% travel for this position. 

This role will be filled at either the AVP, Head of Construction Training and Onboarding or the VP, Head of Construction Training and Onboarding. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for developing underwriting training standards and curriculum across Casualty, Property, Professional Liability, and Excess Construction. You will also create onboarding guidelines to support both new and lateral hires, ensuring a smooth and effective integration into our team.

Additional responsibilities:

• Actively engaged in developing training materials and underwriting standards and guidance
• Ensures the training curriculum consistently reflects our underwriting guidelines and documentation standards, supporting accuracy and best practices across the team.
• Provides training to the leadership team and Technical Directors on Construction Underwriting at Zurich.
• Manages and reviews select referrals from underwriters to ensure thorough evaluation and consistent decision-making.
• Identify the need for additional underwriting guidance, and work to develop new guidance or changes to existing practices.

 Basic Qualifications, AVP Level:
 

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

OR

Basic Qualifications, VP Level:

• Bachelors Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Management or Underwriting or Broker or Carrier or Market Facing area within the Commercial Insurance industry
  AND
• Knowledge of Construction product lines and insurance industry

Preferred Qualifications:
 

• CPCU or CRIS
• Advanced knowledge of Construction product lines, the commercial insurance and Construction/Engineering industry
• Letter of authority and ability to make underwriting decisions within established guidelines
• Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
• Excels at building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients
• Strong presentation skills
• Results oriented

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The combined salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $280,000.00. The proposed salary range for the AVP is $130,000.00 - $215,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%. The proposed salary range for the VP is $175,000.00 - $280,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 25%.
