Head of FlexForce
Zurich North America is currently hiring the Head of FlexForce and this person will work in a hybrid schedule out of our Schaumburg, IL North America HQ.
The Head of FlexForce is responsible for leading Zurich North America's flexible workforce strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective staffing solutions and robust risk management through strategic vendor partnerships. This role oversees the FlexForce program—including governance, operations, and technology platforms such as Beeline Vendor Management System (VMS)—and serves as a subject matter expert on contingent labor and third-party risk management best practices.
Responsibilities:
Contingent Workforce Management –
- Define and execute the vision for FlexForce to support dynamic business needs.
- Partner with senior leadership to align flexible workforce strategies with organizational goals.
- Oversee third-party staffing vendors and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Manage staff augmentation and Statement of Work (SOW) processes across departments.
- Establish and enforce guidelines for contingent labor usage, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Lead operations of the Beeline VMS platform, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and analytics.
- Approve new job titles and descriptions submitted by consultants and host managers.
- Provide training and guidance on FlexForce processes and tools.
Third - Party Governance and Strategic Leadership –
- Accountable for the development and implementation of enterprise-wide strategies for third-party governance, ensuring alignment with Zurich’s risk policies and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for oversight and sign-off on the governance framework for third-party relationships, including staffing vendors and other external partners, confirming its effective operation.
- Directs and approves regular reviews and assessments of third-party risks, ensuring collaboration with contract owners and business leaders to identify, mitigate, and monitor risks.
- Ensures the maintenance of a comprehensive inventory of third parties and their compliance status, utilizing analytics to inform strategic decisions and signing off on accuracy and completeness.
- Champions and authorizes risk mitigation strategies and action plans, verifying that third parties adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Signs off on monitoring and reporting of the effectiveness of third-party risk management activities and controls, providing assurance to executive leadership.
- Maintains oversight of industry trends and regulatory changes, directing proactive adaptation of governance strategies to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Approves the development and delivery of training programs for contract owners and business leaders on compliance, risk management, and governance best practices.
- Fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in third-party management across the organization, ensuring the framework is embedded and effective.
Collaboration and Influence –
- Serve as SME on risk mitigation strategies related to external/third-party workforce engagement.
- Collaborate with host managers, contract owners, HR, legal, procurement, and cross-functional teams to support workforce planning and third-party governance.
- Influence and drive change management initiatives to enhance third-party governance and contingent workforce practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Operations Training and/or Change Management area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Operations Training and/or Change Management area AND
- 3 or more years managing a team of people
- Enterprise-wide project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in workforce strategy, vendor management, or talent acquisition.
- Proven leadership in managing contingent workforce programs and vendor ecosystems.
- Strong knowledge of VMS platforms (e.g., Beeline) and workforce analytics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $143,000.00 to $234,300.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
