IT Test Automation Internship (Summer 2023)

Zurich is currently looking for a Test Automation Intern for Summer 2023, to support our North America Operations & Technology / Information Technology / Quality Assurance (QA) Testing Services Team.

 

As an intern will work under immediate supervision and perform requested tasks alongside professionals who perform these roles. Generally, this position is part of a summer program with an assigned mentor. 

 

Primary assignments you will work on include:

 

As a Intern, you will be assigned a variety of projects and initiatives.  Your primary projects will focus on automation testing.  The specific project will be selected a few weeks before your start date.

 

  • Work on internal initiatives to Test CoE to improve internal processes and further build center of excellence capabilities
  • Hands-on testing automation activities, including the development of code for test automation scripts, as well as running existing test automation scripts for expected results
  • Driving activities within the testing process end to end for a given product(s)
  • Contributing to Test Automation Strategy development on specific product(s)

 

You will learn:

 

  • Test automation tools such as Selenium and UFT
  • Testing tools, such as Browserstack and Postman
  • Technical/coding skills using test automation tools
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, debugging and resolving issues
  • Quality Assurance (QA) testing processes
  • Collaboration across IT, partnering with leads, business analysts, developers, testers, etc.
  • Stakeholder communication and management
  • Use of collaborative tools
  • Time management

  • Software development using application coding in Java
  • Further develop critical thinking skills and leverage their creativity to conduct manual testing of software
  • Work with a variety of resources, including resources that work for our outsourcing partners

Basic Qualifications:
 

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program and will be enrolled in the fall of 2023
  • Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior) and no prior years of experience required in the administrative area
  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S indefinitely   
     

 Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (preferred major in Computer Science with focus on Software Development)
  • Strong technical programming skills with scripting languages such as Java, Python, VB, etc.
  • Problem-solving skills in customer focused environment 
  • Quick learner, self-organizing, and able to work independently
  • Intermediate Excel skills (Vlookup/pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.)
  • Intermediate Microsoft SharePoint skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Nice to have: Test automation knowledge (e.g., Cucumber framework, SpecFlow, SpecRun, Postman, RestAssured, Test Driven- Development (TDD), Behavior Driven-Development (BDD), Acceptance Test Driven-Development (ATDD)
  • Minimum cumulative current grade point average of 3.0 (current could mean last semester GPA)
