Internal Controls Senior Manager
Zurich is currently looking for an Internal Controls Senior Manager to work out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Primary responsibilities include supporting management to ensure internal controls are in place and operating effectively in accordance with the Group Internal Control Integrated Framework (ICIF), with the main area of focus being financial controls. This individual will support the quarterly control and process owner attestation cycle and subsequent reporting, lead the annual scoping exercise, be a lead reviewer of independent test results, and act as the main point of contact with our internal testing team, who supports a subset of our testing population. Work with an experienced team to bring innovative solutions to management to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the control environment. Support the business in understanding the root cause of errors identified and help develop remediation plans.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to design and execute the testing of internal controls and facilitate the related remediation for any control deficiencies identified
- Review internal control testing with a focus on adherence with internal requirements
- Ability to analyze processes to identify risks and control weaknesses
- Ability to design and implement appropriate controls to strengthen the control environment and mitigate company risks, focused on preventive, automated controls where possible
- Act as informal mentor / support for the team of Internal Control Managers
- Recognize the impact of major external or internal changes to the control environment
- Participate in cross functional groups to implement or enhance controls based on organizational transformations
- Ability to document process walkthroughs from start to finish through the collaboration with subject matter experts
- Develop presentations tailored to audiences at various levels and business functions to communicate status of internal control environment
- Build relationships within the business to stay current on focus areas and trends and consider where additional support may be required, focused mainly in the Finance & Actuarial space
- Support the business as operational controls supporting the ICIF framework continue to be rolled out and transition to business as usual
- Identify opportunities to improve customer facing reporting and coordination and bring them to action
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area AND
- Knowledge and experience using accounting principles.
- General ledger and transactional experience.
- Experience with General Ledger, software, financial reporting systems, Business Objects and financial query tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Insurance industry experience
- CPA or CIA certification
- 4 or more years experience related to internal / external audit
- Intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite experience
- Strong communication skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $124,410.00 to $203,610.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
