Senior Accounting and Reporting Manager

Zurich North America is hiring an Senior Accounting and Reporting Manager to join our  team! We are open to hiring talent in the following location: Schaumburg, IL.

 

Purpose:

 

The Senior Accounting & Reporting Manager performs and supervises specific general ledger operations in relation to internal and external reporting requirements.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Responsible to the General Accounting VP for day-to-day tasks closely related to the accounting books, as well as for supporting the preparation of the  local regulatory financial statements according to internationally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ensure the quality of quarterly deviation analyses, supporting reporting to ensure compliance to the Group's International Financial Reporting Standards. 
  • Oversee general ledger operations (accounting activities and account reconciliation). 
  • Solve day-to-day operational problems related to finances and support other Business Unit Functions. 
  • Oversee, coordinate and support the balance sheet reconciliation process in accordance with the Group's internal control guidance.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts in accordance with the Group's & International Financial Reporting Standards and local regulatory requirements. 
  • Supervise, assess and evaluate the financial processes in collaboration with the VP of General Accounting or the Accounting & Reporting Team lead to detect opportunities for improvement. 
  • Oversee the SOX internal control framework and ensure proper performance of controls. 
  • Manage hiring for the local accounting team
  • Business Travel, as required
  • Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required 
  • Pass Applicable Exam/Licensing, as required 
  • Regular Predictable Attendance


Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area
    AND
  • Knowledge and experience using accounting principles

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • CPA
  • 3 or more years of managerial experience
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Advanced general ledger transactional experience
  • Project management experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Technology experience related to General ledger, financial reporting systems, Business Objects or other query tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $108,200.00 - $177,100.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
