Senior Actuarial Analyst
Zurich North America is hiring an Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our team! We are open to hiring talent in one of the following locations: Schaumburg, Chicago, NYC or Toronto.
Purpose:
Acts in an actuarial capacity while in pursuit of an actuarial qualification, performing duties which are of a mathematical and/ or financial nature, in order to provide highly accurate data analyses recommendations for use by Actuaries, typically in the evaluation of loss reserves or the pricing of business. Train less experienced personnel
Key Accountabilities:
- Supports reserving, portfolio profitability analysis, reinsurance analysis, or market-facing business units in support of business objectives.
- Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses including loss and premium projections, consultations on actuarial models, or capital modeling.
- Support Finance, market-facing business units, Claims, Risk, Capital Management, and other functions on reserving and make recommendations towards strategic business decisions.
- Support loss reserve calculations for general insurance business under various bases.
- Ensure that the claims provisioning processes for assigned tasks are appropriately governed in accordance with Group, Regional, and Local regulatory policies.
- Supports the pricing of new/renewal business, make recommendations for developing effective pricing/rating structures and developing effective rating and pricing/rating structures and develop strategies in support of business objectives.
- Provide support for management of profit margins on new and renewal business, and the monitoring of portfolio performance.
- Coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including trend analyses, reinsurance analyses and analyses of loss and expense reserves, as it relates to pricing adequacy and strategic direction.
- Provide consultation and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues, make recommendations in support of Market Facing and Product Underwriting on pricing decisions.
- Prepare premium rate filings, schedules of statistics/statistical analyses, and financial statements.
- Assist in the design, testing and maintenance of pricing models and tools.
- Assists in calculation of actuarial reserves and new business value reporting, capital and solvency monitoring, preparation of input data for internal capital modeling calculations, planning, profitability and experience analyses for defined segments of life insurance business. • Implement minor actuarial cash flow model developments with considerable support and guidance.
- Assists in the development, running and testing of pricing models.
- Deconstruct and analyze competitor products and inputs to the design of new and revised products.
- Support the development of product business cases including the calculation of key profitability metrics.
- Review aspects of the emerging business experience as part of the actuarial control cycle and make recommendations in this regard.
- Review the wider proposition and technical aspects of the sales process, including illustrations, sales tools, terms & conditions etc., and make recommendations in this regard.
- Business Travel, as required
- Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
- Pass Applicable Actuarial Exams, as required
- Regular Predictable Attendance
Basic Qualifications:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
OR - Bachelors Degree
AND - Successful completion of 5 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
OR - Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $74,300.00 - $121,700.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
