Sr. Pollution Claim Specialist

At Zurich, the Latent & Environmental Claims organization is dedicated to helping our customers resolve a wide array of existing and newly emerging claim exposures involving toxic tort and latent injuries, as well as class action litigation. As a member of our Pollution team, you will manage a claims caseload from assignment through resolution, with moderate direction from your team manager and Claims executives. At this level, you will provide technical claims service on litigated and non-litigated claims of moderate to high exposure and complexity under general liability, property, excess, and other coverages. This requires significant policy interpretation and coverage analysis; retention and management of counsel and other vendors; collaboration with internal and external contacts, including underwriters, customers, and brokers; negotiation and claim resolution; and management of all communications and reporting associated with the life of a claim.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management area.
OR
- Juris Doctor and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management area.
OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an associate degree with 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management area.
OR - Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management area.
OR
- High School Diploma Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management area.
AND
- Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
- Microsoft Office experience
- Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets, and products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Latent & Environmental experience highly preferred.
- Juris Doctorate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiations skills
- Experience handling Mass Litigation claims
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction or oversight
- Aptitude for collaborating in a team environment and building cross functional working relationships
- Proactive claim handling approach and sharing of insights
- Ability to gather unique perspectives from other teams/functions to optimize outcomes.
- Customer service experience
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $81,800.00 - $135,000.00 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
