Underwriting Account Service Manager (Level I or II)

Zurich Insurance is currently looking to hire an Underwriting Account Service Manager within our Large Excess Casualty group. We are looking for talented professionals and therefore there is flexibility with the position location – Schaumburg, New York, Dallas, Atlanta, and Philadelphia.

 

This role will be filled at either the Underwriting Manager (level I or II). The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

 

In this role your responsibilities will include but is not limited to:

 

  • Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals
  • Assess and evaluate underwriting processes
  • Follows up regularly with producers as needed
  • Performs customer service and account management responsibilities, as needed
  • Participates in key account business relationships in person or teleconference with Underwriters
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations
  • Builds strong relationships across the business
  • Acts as subject matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

Underwriting Account Service Manager I:

 

  • Bachelors degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
    AND
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
  • Experience with researching, compiling, analyzing and synthesizing data and metrics
  • Experience in the application of change management methodologies and tools
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Leadership experience
  • Microsoft Office experience

 

OR

 

Underwriting Account Service Manager II

 

  • Bachelors degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
    AND
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
  • Experience with researching, compiling, analyzing and synthesizing data and metrics
  • Experience working in a production and metrics performance environment
  • Experience preparing and managing operational budgets
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • People management experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Insurance industry knowledge applicable to underwriting rules and procedures
  • Experience working in a high-volume environment
  • Superior skills in relationship building, active listening with customers and co-workers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Insurance certifications
  • People management experience
  • Experience working in a production and metrics performance environment
  • Knowledge of operational budgets 

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $74,300.00 - $161,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Account Service Manager I is $74,300.00 - $121,700.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Account Service Manager II is $98,300.00 - $161,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
