Life Reporting Insights Actuary - (Part-Time, Job-Share and Full-Time)

Location: Swindon / Hybrid working

 

 

The opportunity: 

We are looking for two actuaries (or candidates with equivalent expertise) to join our life valuation reporting team, focusing on delivering IFRS 17 result insights to the wider business. The roles are new and recognise that IFRS17 bring a much greater level of granularity to the results, and the opportunity for valuable insights. The new actuaries will work closely together, and with a senior manager who current delivers insights under IFRS4, to increase our capabilities in this area, and capacity to provide business insights. Zurich’s IFSR17 project has made great progress, with two years of parallel run results, and is now looking to the future, with KPI’s, business plans and insights being a clear focus in 2022 and beyond.

 

The valuation reporting team is responsible for the monitoring, reporting, forecasting and longer term business planning for Zurich’s UK Life business under a range of reporting measures, including SII, Swiss Solvency Test, IFRS and UK GAAP. The team provide insights into the strategy and performance of the company and works in close collaboration with other finance and business areas as well as the Global Corporate Centre.

 

We are looking for two self-driven individuals, with life assurance reporting experience. This role would suit candidates with strong insights and communication skills, and offers the opportunity to gain actuarial technical skills. The candidates will be capable of working independently within a small team and be working collaboratively with a range of actuarial, finance and busines areas.

 

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Liaising with senior management and key stakeholders (UK and Group) to explain the UK Life IFRS results including actuals, forecast and business plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the business partners and the business to help them understand the financial implications of business decisions.
  • Work collaboratively in the valuation reporting team to ensure the results meet expectations.
  • Increase knowledge of the new IFRS17 results so that new KPIs are understood and well managed – though supporting Business Partners.
  • Storytelling the IFRS17 results – at the new level of granularity that IFRS17 brings.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement that focuses enhancing the service provided to all stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain strong working relationships across relevant Finance and business areas. 

 

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Excellent communicator who is able to explain results and bring insights to management (including non-actuarial)
  • Experience of working in an actuarial reporting team
  • Experience of reporting procedures, processes and operating controls for a robust delivery of reliable and accurate financial reporting to auditable standards.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel. Prophet, VBA, SQL also an advantage
