The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Programme Outcomes Lead with a strong background in Insurance and Financial Services. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all programme and project requests undergo rigorous analysis to confirm they are viable, strategically aligned, and capable of delivering measurable business benefits.

You will lead the concept evaluation process, applying structured assessments such as ROI modelling, cost-benefit analysis, prioritisation frameworks, and resource capacity reviews. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will validate proposals, challenge assumptions, and provide evidence-based recommendations that optimise delivery and maximise value.

Your ability to engage, influence, and communicate complex analysis clearly to a wide range of stakeholders will be central to your success, ensuring decisions are informed, transparent, and aligned with organisational strategy.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead rigorous analysis of all programme and project requests to validate viability, strategic fit, and value before initiation.
  • Perform stakeholder impact and engagement analysis to ensure commitment and readiness across MFUs.
  • Validate strategic alignment to ensure initiatives support organisational objectives and priorities.
  • Evaluate financial justification and ROI, including cost-benefit analysis, payback period, and value delivery modelling.
  • Prioritise initiatives through application of structured criteria to rank initiatives based on business need, risk, and resource constraints.
  • Promote the use of existing assets and suppliers to optimise cost and efficiency.
  • Lead and manage benefits realisation planning and reporting, including developing and maintaining robust benefit tracking frameworks and KPIs.
  • Deliver actionable reports and insights to senior leadership for decision-making, including identifying and proactively addressing risks and opportunities.
  • Embed a culture of outcome-focused delivery within teams, coaching and mentoring colleagues on best practice.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong understanding of benefits management and realisation strategies.
  • Expertise in tracking, analysing, and reporting on business outcomes and KPIs.
  • Skilled in requirements gathering, process mapping, and translating business needs into actionable plans.
  • Ability to operate within multi-supplier and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Proven experience in aligning activities to strategic objectives.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills, including coaching others.
  • Ability to drive and support organisational change, especially digital transformation.
  • Integrity, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to manage and track benefits valued up to £10m, including defining benefit profiles and monitoring realisation.
  • Significant experience in programme or outcomes management, ideally within Insurance or Financial Services, with a strong focus on analytical evaluation and decision support.
  • Advanced business case development skills, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI modelling, and scenario planning to support robust decision-making.
  • Expertise in requirements gathering, stakeholder analysis, and process mapping to ensure initiatives are well-defined and strategically aligned. Prince2 Practitioner / MSP or equivalent qualification (preferred), with practical application of governance and assurance frameworks.
