The Opportunity

Are you looking for a caring, collaborative, values‑driven workplace with inspiring teammates and leaders? Do you have the ambition and desire to be the best and thrive at one of the world’s most impactful global insurance providers? Look no further than Zurich Canada.

We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong expertise in data analysis and working with data lake & warehouse teams.

In this role, you will be working with Microsoft Azure Databricks and data engineering / analytics workflows supporting Commercial and Personal Insurance. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL and bring a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience working with insurance data in Azure data platforms, with Automobile insurance exposure considered a significant asset.
Experience with Python, and Guidewire PolicyCenter and / or ClaimCenter is highly desirable, as this role will bridge data flows, business processes, and downstream analytics environments.

This is a pivotal role in analyzing business requirements and translating them into effective data‑driven solutions with a focus on quality, performance, and regulatory alignment.

This is a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise in the insurance data ecosystem while working in a supportive environment where your voice matters. This posting is for a new vacancy.

Zurich Canada uses artificial‑intelligence–enabled tools to support certain aspects of the recruitment process, including the initial review and screening of applications. AI is not the sole basis for shortlisting or hiring decisions; all decisions are made by qualified hiring professionals.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in‑person presence, which may include office time or market‑facing engagements.

What you will do

  • Analyze, document, and translate business requirements into data and analytics specifications with a focus on Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and related Azure data services.
  • Support data integration, transformation, and quality processes that enable underwriting, claims, pricing, and operational analytics across Commercial and Personal Insurance.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand underwriting and claims workflows, particularly within Automobile insurance, informing requirements and data design.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design, optimize, and validate data pipelines originating from sources such as Guidewire PolicyCenter and Guidewire ClaimCenter.
  • Leverage strong problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot data issues, identify root causes, and recommend improvements spanning both business processes and technical data flows.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams (data engineering, product owners, actuaries, underwriting, claims, etc.) to ensure solutions align with business needs, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing data quality, lineage, observability, and platform efficiency.
