The Opportunity

Are you looking to broaden your underwriting experience and gain exposure to Accident & Health insurance? This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your technical underwriting knowledge while building a deep understanding of risk assessment, policy servicing, and broker relationships within a specialized and growing line of business.

Zurich Canada is currently seeking an Underwriting Support Specialist to join our Accident & Health (A&H) team. Reporting to the Senior Underwriting Support Manager, Credit Lines, you'll work alongside experienced underwriters and gain hands-on exposure to underwriting operations, risk evaluation, policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, and customer service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and is interested in building a long-term career within underwriting and insurance.

Whether you're early in your career or looking to expand your insurance expertise, this role provides the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in underwriting, build relationships with brokers and business partners, and gain valuable exposure to the end-to-end insurance lifecycle.

Zurich Canada uses artificial intelligence–enabled tools to support certain aspects of the recruitment process, including the initial review and screening of applications. Artificial intelligence is not the sole basis for candidate shortlisting or selection. All hiring decisions are reviewed and made by qualified hiring professionals.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.

What you will do:

  • Support the underwriting team by reviewing financial information, risk exposures, loss history, and customer data to help evaluate and assess new business opportunities.
  • Analyze transactions and underwriting information to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with established guidelines, regulations, and technical standards.
  • Partner with underwriters to prepare quotes, issue policies, and manage policy changes, renewals, endorsements, and other servicing activities.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for brokers, agents, and customers, responding to inquiries and providing timely, high-quality service.
  • Prioritize and manage a portfolio of customer accounts, resolving issues and supporting positive customer outcomes within established authority levels.
  • Monitor underwriting processes, controls, and practices, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
  • Provide advisory support to internal stakeholders, helping ensure alignment between underwriting policies, procedures, and day-to-day operations.
