Associate Underwriting Manager, Middle Market

We’ve been dedicated to assembling a team of dedicated Middle Market leaders and underwriters who understand this space very deeply and who grasp the unique challenges of the various industry segments and the individual customers we serve. We are looking to add to our team in the Midwest Region by hiring an Associate Underwriting Manager. You will serve as a customer advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their unique risks and offering the best end-to-end solution for their Middle Markets Technology insurance needs.
This is a remote position based out of Milwaukee, WI. In this role you will manage a select team of skilled Property and Casualty production underwriters while also being an individual contributor with your own strategic book of business.
This position requires you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and to be in the office on a regular schedule to lead team collaboration days. You will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships in the Midwest region. This is a critical role in driving an engaging team culture. This role requires strong technical skills, staff development and sales execution mindset. This role requires 25% of Travel.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND
- Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to manage and build rapport with team
- Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines
- Some supervisory or management experience
- Established Producer relationships
- Advanced skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating
- Strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation
- CPCU
- Results oriented

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $136,000.00 - $181,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%
