Enterprise Data Specialist, Power BI

The Data & Analytics department is looking for an Enterprise Data Specialist, Power BI to help develop new and support existing data models and visualizations. The Enterprise Data Specialist, Power BI will be a key contributor to the execution of broader data visualization and data pipeline strategy for the Data & Analytics teams.  This role can be based in our Schaumburg HQ in a hybrid schedule or remotely for the right candidate. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Requirements elicitation and documentation from business stakeholders to determine the data visualization needs of the business.
  • Use technical requirements to design and develop insightful, visually compelling, and engaging dashboards using Power BI.
  • Work with onshore and offshore teams on data collection and data needs.
  • Lead analysis of requirements to determine feasibility of requests, agree on scope of proposed requirements, and identify potential risks and impact to business units and other systems or products.
  • Partner with analytics experts, data subject matter experts, and Data Engineers to pipeline data using Azure data services.
  • Supports data validations, implementation, and training activities throughout the process.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Data Management area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Data Management area AND
  • Experienced in data interrogation, data profiling or data modeling.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in Data Visualization, Data Analytics or other quantitative disciplines, especially during company growth stages, in a cross-functional role.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI (preferred), Tableau or similar
  • Experience designing and developing insightful, visually compelling, and engaging dashboards that support decision making.
  • Experience in ETL/ELT and data wrangling using tools (Informatica, Data Factory, DBT, Five Tran etc.) and languages such as Python, R, Scala, Java, SQL, and SAS.
  • Experience with various Microsoft Azure services (including Data Lake, Synapse, Data bricks, Data factory, Cosmos DB, Power Platform, Azure ML, Power Automate, Power BI etc.)
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes and tools
  • Strong communication skills with experience operating within a fast-paced agile environment as a lead where you actively partner with end-users and team members of both functional and technical backgrounds
  • Customer-focused and dedicated to understanding and learning about our business partners needs and requirements
  • Skilled at data exploration; able to quickly transform and synthesize data from multiple sources and identify optimal data structures to support end-state reporting needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Insurance industry experience

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education.  The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $98,300.00 - $161,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
