Vice President, Surety Risk Solutions

Zurich North America’s Surety Risk Solutions team is seeking to add another Vice President to help drive success within our growing U.S. Specialties Business Unit. This is a critical role as the Vice President, Surety Risk Solutions, will utilize their expertise to help deliver the underwriting strategy and product development that will drive the performance and growth of the Contract and Commercial Surety Services industry segment at the national level. Training and supporting the Market Facing Underwriters will also be a critical component of this position. This role will work collaboratively with the Segment Leaders, Underwriters, Customers and Brokers.

 

This position can be based in any of our Zurich Offices or Remote.

 

The Vice President, Surety Risk Solutions, will:

 

  • Identify risk and mitigation strategies for ZNA and customers and work toward creative solutions in collaboration with surety underwriting teams.
  • Draft and review bond forms, contracts, and various agreements. Negotiate terms and conditions with external counsel and project owners.
  • Recommend and implement action plans to promote profitable growth of Surety business.
  • Identify the need for additional underwriting guidance and work to develop new guidelines or changes to existing guidelines.
  • Maintain a strong market facing presence, be responsible for visiting customers and brokers, may write or oversee the publication of white papers and speak at industry functions.
  • Perform, or oversee the development of, in-depth research to understand the drivers behind the performance of the portfolio
  • Analyze or oversee the analysis of quality and quantity of risks underwritten.
  • Develop and monitor complex underwriting initiatives.
  • Significantly contribute to process improvement and innovation.
  • Provide training support from a technical underwriting standpoint.
  • Disseminate key updates related to their specific industry segment.
  • Address governance and regulatory issues.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

• Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area

OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting area 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Juris Doctor degree
  • Experienced Surety Claim attorney
  • Significant experience representing surety clients in complex litigation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective team player
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

 

 

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $130,000 - $215,000, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
