Broker Farm/ Broker Relationship Executi


Your Role

As a Broker Farm Relationship Manager your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following

  • Generate and drive new business opportunities through your established network of broker business partners in line with the agreed sales plan.  Special emphasis on the broker farm account.
  • Actively pursue and realise potential new opportunities to generate business through new broker relationships/partners across all lines of business but with additional focus on farm.
  • Design and implement a business development plan for broker panel to ensure targets are achieved including critically assessing the capability of your broker panel to deliver on agreed targets 
  • Responsible for specific relationship management of identified key broker accounts
  • Maintain and develop necessary market trend data, competitor analysis, product and service developments in the broker market with special emphasis on the broker farm account.
  • Provide the market facing underwriting team with support and co-operation to ensure professional and efficient service to our broker business partners
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all relevant Broker Records in accordance with regulatory /statutory and internal requirements.
  • Ensure any issues arising are dealt with in accordance with Zurich standards and that where appropriate issues are escalated in a timely fashion
  • Ability to pursue business opportunities for scheme business through brokers and bring them to fruition
  • Manage a panel of Brokers in line with Zurich Principles and Practices ensuring all KPI’s are achieved and the Zurich underwriting criteria adhered to.


Internal Relationships

  • Strong engagement and interaction with risk engineering, claims, Underwriting Technical Centre, distribution management, pricing actuaries, proposition development and other functional areas. Again a strong emphasis is required on broker farm


External Relationships

  • Build and sustain key relationships with customers, distributors, tied agents and business partners. 
  • Engagement with trade & industry groups, including promotion of Zurich at Broker events when appropriate.  
  • The ability to recognise and close new business opportunities whilst remaining within the pricing/discounting regimes as laid down by the business
  • Adhering strictly to our quality and underwriting standards by refusing competitive business that does not meet these requirements. 
  • Providing clear and professional direction for the Market Facing underwriters on business that is referred
  • Agreeing acceptable extensions of cover when the business need arises
  • Adheres to Zurich Basics (integrity, customer centricity, sustainable value creation, teamwork, excellence)


Achieve target metrics for:

  • Hit ratios
  • New business written 
  • Retention
  • Broker Queries
  • Compliance timelines in relation to customers and personal CPD
  • Positive feedback from customers, distributors and experienced associates
  • Continuous development of technical knowledge
  • Monthly performance reporting

Your Skills & Experience

As a Broker Farm Relationship Executive your skills and qualifications will include: 


  • Bachelor’s degree and or holds or is working towards relevant professional qualifications i.e. CIP, ACII. 
  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years industry experience 
  • Excellent technical insurance knowledge, including specific technical knowledge within the relevant lines of business. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Zurich products/policy wordings
  • Advanced knowledge of the Insurance Industry is required, including specific knowledge and expertise within the Broker market 
  • Thorough understanding of our relevant systems, sales practices in addition to our products being sold in the market 
  • Solid technical understanding of Underwriting practices, rules and performance metrics
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills supporting an ability to develop and maintain valuable and productive relationships with key customers 
  • Proven track record in negotiating with clients
  • Strong Problem-solving, decision-making and judgement skills
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in using the tools and techniques to explore and develop potential areas of business growth 
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements 
  • Supports organisational change and improvement 
  • Results driven with a proven track record of executing and delivering results
  • Knowledge around the broker farm market or farm insurance in general.
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills with a strong history of collaborating effectively with key business partners
  • A strong  team player with a flexible, positive attitude towards work
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills to utilise our internal team to the benefit of the broker and customer relationship
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills that support a high service standard
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and to adapt quickly within a busy environment to ensure we respond effectively to customer needs and expectations
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills 
  • Good research skills
  • Good IT literacy skills and knowledge of frequently used applications
  • Have an appetite for continuous personal development 
  • Ability to operate independently

Additional Information


Primary work location is Leinster based but travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
