As an Accounting Policy Expert in our dynamic Group Accounting Policy team, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining Zurich’s Group IFRS accounting policies and guiding colleagues worldwide. You’ll help ensure our financial decisions are robust, compliant, and future-ready.

What you will do

  • Advise & Support: Provide tailored accounting advice and interpret accounting policies for Group functions and Zurich subsidiaries globally—supporting issue resolution and executive decision-making.
  • Quality Assurance: Prepare and review memos and policy documents to ensure they fully comply with Zurich Group rules, regulations, and IFRS standards.
  • Collaborate & Innovate: Work closely with Finance and other stakeholders to integrate proper accounting treatment into system/process development, product launches, and new business activities.
  • Train & Empower: Develop and deliver training materials to enhance IFRS accounting awareness, quality, and consistency across the organization.
  • Stay Ahead: Monitor developments from the International Accounting Standards Board, FINMA, and EIOPA; help update the IFRS Group Accounting Policy Handbook and related methodology documents.


What you bring

As an Accounting Policy Specialist at Zurich Insurance, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • University degree in Finance (Accounting and Controlling) or equivalent education.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS framework. Knowledge of Swiss local statutory and regulatory requirements (including SST) is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of relevant IFRS accounting and reporting experience, ideally within audit, insurance, or financial services. Experience with IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 is highly valued.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage senior management and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset – comfortable taking ownership and working under pressure.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); German language skills are an advantage.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
