The ESG Legal & Corporate Law Team is part of the Central Legal Team at Zurich Insurance Group in Zurich, Switzerland. It comprises lawyers and share register managers who provide legal advice and support on governance, ESG legal and corporate law matters to various stakeholders. The team is also responsible for corporate governance at Group level, managing Zurich Insurance Group Ltd’s share register and Annual General Meeting.
 
What you will do
 
Reporting into the Senior Legal Counsel Corporate, your main responsibilities will involve:
 

  • Be responsible for Zurich Insurance Group’s Corporate Governance documentation at management level and collaborate with team members for board level documentation;
  • Provide legal advice and support in the drafting, implementation and review of internal policies and guidelines from a Group perspective, and collaborate with functions and businesses relating to the Group’s governance framework;
  • Provide legal advice and conduct legal research within the remit of the team, all with a view to understand legal implications of business initiatives and provide practical goal-oriented solutions to relevant stakeholders;
  • Support corporate secretariat activities for Swiss subsidiaries and corporate reporting matters;
  • Support senior lawyers of the team in their activities and provide legal advice relating to share register matters;
  • Proactively identify key trends and developments in the area of corporate law and corporate governance (Swiss and international); prepare presentations and reports/updates to key stakeholders and foster know-how exchange within the legal function through practice groups and with external constituents; and
  • Provide general legal advice on an ad hoc basis to Group functions, to subsidiaries and within the Central Legal Team.

                  
What you bring

 

  • Swiss Law degree (Master in Law; Attorney at law) with strong background in Swiss securities and corporate law as well as corporate governance. 
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a law firm and/or legal department of an organization listed at a stock exchange.
  • Strong ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately for a wide variety of audiences; comprehend abstract and complex concepts and translate them to concrete, simple, user-friendly documents
  • A proactive and autonomous mindset with a strong sense of ownership. Able to think strategically, commercially and creatively, finding pragmatic, risk-based, and business-oriented solutions. 
  • Person of integrity and able to work under pressure in a professional way and with a commitment to being a team-player.
  • Strong communicator, able to form effective working relationships with a variety of functions at all levels. 
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, combined with strong legal instincts and outstanding issue-spotting ability.
  • Ability to handle numerous and competing tasks and priorities, and to be resourceful and composed under pressure, coupled with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent command of German and English both spoken and written is essential, other languages a plus.
