Audit Operations
The Audit Operations team sits at the heart of the internal audit function. We support the global audit community by continuously improving how Group Audit works, how we use data, and how we enable insight at scale.
Within Operations, the Professional Practices, Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement team plays a key role in ensuring Group Audit continuously meets the Global Internal Audit Standards, our Group Internal Audit Charter and local regulations while supporting Group Audit’s transformation agenda to become fully digital, data-driven and AI-enabled. We’re developing and maintaining leading-edge technology for use across the function, redesigning our processes to harness the full potential of data, GenAI and embedding a completely new way of working across Group Audit.
Your role
As Manager, Professional Practices, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Group Audit continuously meets Global Internal Audit Standards, the Group Audit Charter and applicable local regulatory requirements, while also driving continuous improvement in how the function operates. In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Strengthen audit standards and practices by supporting the design, implementation and continuous improvement of Group Audit methodologies, policies and guidance.
- Enable regulatory and standards compliance by supporting the annual assessment of Group Audit against Global Internal Audit Standards and relevant local regulations, and supporting responses to regulatory or external stakeholder requests.
- Translate standards into practice by developing and delivering clear communications, training and guidance that support consistent application across the global audit community.
- Be a subject matter expert to create GenAI agents and prompt libraries, enabling consistent adoption and new ways of working across Group Audit.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned, QA insights and good practices, and embedding pragmatic enhancements into audit ways of working.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives by applying innovative approaches and new world skills, including data analytics, GenAI and agile ways of working, to improve quality, efficiency and impact.
- Collaborate across Group Audit by working closely with regional audit teams, Audit Operations colleagues and other stakeholders, demonstrating a strong “As One” mindset.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for an experienced internal audit or risk professional with a strong grounding in professional practices and a passion for quality, consistency and continuous improvement and the following experience and qualities:
- Strategic focus: You can see the big picture and prioritize initiative activities that delivers the greatest strategic impact.
- Relevant internal audit professional practices experience: You’ve experience in defining and delivering previous continuous improvement activities, including scoping design decisions, delivery and implementation activities.
- Stakeholder engagement experience: You have collaborated with a range of stakeholders to build trust and gather input to help shape internal audit methodology and to engage and motivate others to adopt.
- Storytelling and communication expertise: You have experience of building strong slide narratives and experience of delivering training to internal auditors.
- Benefits and outcomes focused: You have experience of defining adoption/success measures and using feedback and data to adjust plans.
- Proactive delivery: You take ownership for delivery activities, can manage competing priorities effectively, anticipate issues and drive progress with speed and quality in a dynamic environment.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Prior experience of using GenAI tools in a work context, such as MS Copilot.
Experience in the following is preferred but not essential:
- Agile knowledge & experience, including applying agile principles and iterative/incremental delivery to unlock value quickly and effectively.
