Risk Data Engineer 80-100%
Are you passionate about data and how it can contribute to insightful data driven decision making with a focus on Financial Risk and Investment Management? Would you like to support Zurich’s effort in building and maintaining a state-of the art risk and investment data landscape?
In this role, you will be in charge of processing the relevant data and making it available for Zurich’s investment and risk management processes and decision making.
Building on a strong data foundation you will contribute to a new field of analytics enabling our teams and Senior Management to extract key insights from data. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work across different teams within Group Risk Management and Group Investment Management and with other Group functions.
What you will do
- Analyse and organize risk and investment data into analysis and reporting ready solutions
- Ensure that reporting needs are reflected into existing tools/systems to facilitate an automated delivery where appropriate
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to collect, process, and store model inputs and quantification results to our investment and risk models from various sources into our data infrastructure
- Apply data concepts and points to regulatory regimes under FINMA and EIOPA supervision (e.g. Swiss Solvency Test, Solvency Standard Formula) to deliver enterprise scale data solutions for our Investment, Risk and Capital quantitative models
- Implement data validation and cleaning procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of vast and diverse risk and investment data landscape
- Design and implement of Regulatory and Market Risk reports and dashboards ensuring high quality standards and appropriate internal reviews are in place
- Explore ways to enhance data quality, reliability and consistency
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and resolve any issues promptly
What you bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Good understanding of data engineering concepts, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data modelling, and database management
- Proficiency in SQL and other programming languages such as Python
- Ideally some experience in handling/processing data in an enterprise environment
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) - Desirable
- Experience with Spark and PySpark – Desirable
- Experience with Lake Houses / Delta Lake – Desirable
- Basic knowledge of financial instruments and the investment process and risk management
- Strong interest or knowledge in market, credit as well as other life and non-life risks
- Passion for data quality and eager to get to the root cause of any discrepancies
