Senior Market Risk Modelling Expert 80-100%
We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Market Risk Modelling Expert to join our Financial Risk Management Team within Group Risk Management at Zurich Insurance. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Head of Market Risk Modelling and will play a key role in the development, maintenance, and calibration and the ongoing assessment of the suitability of our market risk model. This model is essential for estimating the capital requirement for both market and credit risk under the Swiss Solvency Test (SST).
What you will do
- Model Development and Maintenance: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the market risk model, ensuring it meets the requirements of the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) and FINMA regulations.
- Data Analysis: Conduct detailed data analysis to support the calibration and ongoing suitability of the market risk model, including data collection, cleaning, and validation.
- Methodology Support: Support the Head of Market Risk Modelling in ensuring the overall methodology of the market risk model is robust and up-to-date on an ongoing basis including assessment of model performance, assumption and parameter reviews as well as model change projects as required e.g. to obtain regulatory or internal approvals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on FINMA requirements and ensure the market risk model remains compliant with all regulatory standards.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the model development process, methodology, assumptions, and results.
- Results Explanation: Assist in explaining model results to internal stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the market risk model and its application, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams within Group Risk Management and across Zurich Insurance to ensure integrated risk management processes.
What you bring
- Master's degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Additional qualification (e.g. CFA, FRM, Actuary) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in market risk modelling or financial risk management within a financial institution or the insurance industry.
- Proficiency in risk modelling software and programming languages such as R and Python.
- Profound understanding of standards and regulatory requirements related to market risk and capital adequacy in the context of the Swiss Solvency Test (SST) or Solvency II.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis and interpret complex data.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to precisely document and explain complex concepts to a variety of stakeholders and readers, adjusted to their needs.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive approach to identifying potential issues and a solution-oriented mindset in addressing them early on.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing regulatory environments and business needs.
- Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and levels of the organization.
- Keen interest in continuous learning and professional development.
