Senior Model Risk Specialist

We are looking for an experienced model risk professional to strengthen our Group-wide Model Risk Management (MRM) framework and support the effective oversight of models across the organization. 


In this role, within the Model Risk team of Group Risk Management, you will contribute to the continued maturation and embedding of our recently redesigned Model Risk Governance Framework, ensuring model risk is managed proactively, transparently, and in line with internal standards. You will regularly interact with Local Chief Risk Officers (CROs), Heads of Group Functions, and their teams, providing expert guidance on model governance, lifecycle requirements, validation expectations, and assurance activities.

Your Role


As a Senior Model Risk Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Leading the development, enhancement, and implementation of Group Model Risk Governance standards, policies, procedures, and tools—including the model inventory and model findings register.
  • Providing expert guidance to model owners, auditors, control testing teams, and other stakeholders on governance requirements, best practices.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor and challenger to Local CROs and Group Function leadership on key model risk topics.
  • Overseeing compliance with model lifecycle requirements, including inventory completeness, risk classification, documentation quality, and governance milestones.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness and consistency of governance implementation—such as documentation standards, data quality in the model inventory, and adherence to controls— across the Group.
  • Recommending continuous improvements to strengthen transparency, accountability, and oversight.

Your Skills and Experience

As a Senior Model Risk Specialist your skills and qualifications include:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, finance, actuarial science, engineering, economics) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in model risk, model governance, validation, risk management, or related disciplines within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of model lifecycle processes and risk management principles; knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., SST, Solvency II, IFRS, internal model governance) is an advantage.
  • Experience in AI/ML model governance or GenAI oversight is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact confidently and constructively with senior stakeholders, including CROs and functional heads.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear and actionable messages. 
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical mindset, sound judgment, and enthusiasm for promoting risk-aware decision-making.
