Senior Risk & Control Specialist, 80%-100%


In this role you will oversee the effective implementation and operations of our internal control framework to support effective risk management across the Group. This includes promotion of a risk awareness culture and providing the first line with means to allow for reliable reporting, compliance and operational processes.


 What you will do


As a Senior Risk & Internal Control Oversight Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:


  • Oversee and monitor the implementation and execution of the Group’s Internal Control Framework across the Group.
  • Independently manage cross functional and company-wide improvement initiatives in the risk and controls space including global roll-out.
  • Monitor issues and actions and translate into reliable and actionable information for senior management.
  • Act as subject matter expert supporting units and function with the implementation and maintenance of new and existing risk management processes
  • Specify business requirements and review implementation of technical solutions in our GRC application and related reporting.
  • Foster awareness and provide training to increase effectiveness of the Internal Control Framework across the Group.


What you will bring


As a Senior Risk & Internal Control Oversight Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:


  • Prior working experience in the insurance industry and a degree in business or related subject is required
  • At least 8 years of experience in risk management and/or internal controls is a pre-requisite
  • Professional qualifications and/or significant experience in accountancy, finance or audit as well as certifications such as CPA or IIA, would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience with the rollout and maintenance of risk and controls frameworks is required
  • Expert understanding of regulatory environments and control frameworks and be up to date of the latest developments
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, work with diverse cultures collaboratively, manage stakeholder sensitivities
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal format
  • Strong influencing skills and leading without formal line management authority
  • Persistent, resilient and seeking self-development
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills
  • Additional company languages (German or Spanish) would be a distinct advantage
