Zurich’s Risk Team have a purpose led role to provide insights to the main stakeholders through effective risk governance, assessment, internal risk reporting and communications, risk policy and risk reporting. The ideal future employee will support and embed the Group Risk Management mission and effectively manage risk that achieve Group strategic, operational and financial objectives.

In this role you will contribute to the production of Group level risk appetite statements, risk assessments, and reports, both internally and externally, including in connection with regulatory requirements.

What you will do

Enterprise risk monitoring and reporting:


  • Contribute to the production of Group level risk reports, both internally and externally, including in connection with regulatory requirements, with a focus on strategic, financial and insurance risks.
  • Support ORSA related activities for ZIG and ZIC, including scenario selection, quantitative analysis, report production and stakeholder management first and second line.
  • Support Group Recovery Plan related activities including management action assessment, report production and periodic recovery plan exercises.
  • Support the production of the quarterly risk report in collaboration with Regional, Business Unit and Group Risk Management teams.
  • Support the production of ZIG and ZIC annual risk review reports, financial condition reports and ZIC legal entity reporting.
  • Support the update and monitoring of the Group strategic total risk profiling, the ZIG and ZIC risk appetite and tolerance statements and the ZIG risk management system assessment as well as other regulatory data collection exercises.

Risk Appetite, Risk Identification and Assessment, Risk response:

Support the second line of defense in the following activities:

  • Design ad-hoc scenarios on demand.
  • Updates of the Group risk appetite and tolerance statements.
  • Risk assessment activities in collaboration with Group functions.
  • Review and challenge the assessment of control deficiencies and operational events, including adequacy of remediation initiatives and on demand deep dive reviews.
  • Perform risk management reviews including deep dive reviews on demand, local ORSA and recovery plans, and financial plan and forecast risk assessments.
  • Engage with Group functions and Business Units on potential enhancement and simplification initiatives for risk management practices.
  • Communicate guidance and provide training and awareness on Group relevant non-financial risk matters and ensure that GRM tools are fit for purpose.

Governance:

  • Contribute to the production of Zurich’s risk policies and other governance documents.
  • Development and implementation of non-financial risk management processes and related risk and control insights.
  • Monitoring of regulatory requirements and impact assessment. 

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (engineering, commerce, economics, finance), postgraduate education well regarded.
  • Numeracy skills and prior experience in key functions such as underwriting, actuarial, finance, investment management and/or strategy is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices including knowledge of regulatory requirements, risk assessment and mitigation techniques, and risk reporting frameworks.
  • Highly disciplined and strong focus on execution and delivery.
  • Able to troubleshoot and manage challenging deadlines.
  • Proactive, driven, agile, action and results oriented.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and verbal and written communication skills, particularly in English.
