Assistant Compliance Officer based in Zaventem, Belgium


Zurich Insurance is currently looking for an Assistant Compliance Officer to strengthen our Benelux team.

The opportunity:


Together with your colleagues you will ensure that Zurich Insurance plc complies with its regulatory and legal requirements as well as local regional and group policies. Teamwork, strong organizational and communication skills are key.


You will be responsible for assisting first line management in promoting an ethics-based culture, delivering practical solutions, guidance and training; and to identify and manage Compliance Risks, implementing group policies, processes, controls and assurance related to the Compliance Risk Universe and/or local requirements.


What will you be doing?


Your responsibilities are:


  • To participate in developing and maintaining a compliance structure which will enable and assist the Local Compliance function to operate efficiently and effectively; 
  • To support the development of and facilitating consistent execution of the Compliance operating model within BeNelux;
  • To support the coordination of cross-functional processes and projects;
  • To support Regional reporting requirements (including monthly reporting);
  • To support the initial review of information as well as the management and trend analysis of local data;
  • Development and maintenance of internal systems, including Cosmos, RACE, SharePoint Sites, etc.;
  • Innovation - bringing new ideas and long-term views to support internal strategies;
  • Provision of timely and accurate information and services to support Compliance in their management of both local, regional and group compliance obligations;
  • Supports the enhancement of the Compliance environment by working closely with Regional, Group and Local Compliance, together with representatives from other functions (e.g. OPS/IT/RISK);
  • Key practical advisory service for compliance related queries in BeNelux
  • Perform assurance to the business that the function inherent risks are being identified, managed and mitigated where possible.
  • Share assurance activities’ results and agree on actions with management and other relevant stakeholders and follow up with business on agreed improvement actions.


 What are we looking for?


  • Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in preferably Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk or Legal with a profound interest for insurance;
  • Motivated self-starter with relevant experience (3 -5 years in Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk or Legal);
  • Assurance, monitoring, reporting is essential; presentation skills are preferable;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. mandatory
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills;
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Strong team player, able to manage competing demands in a constructive and supportive manner;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels;
  • Structured and organized approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive business relationships with other members of Compliance, at a Local, Regional and Group level;
  • Ability to seek out and use all available sources of information to make informed decisions and to solve problems;
  • Positive and flexible attitude to change;
  • Excellent time management of task delivery and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
